Obituary For Charles Christopher Clenney
Charles Christopher "Chris" Clenney, 76, of Covington, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 8th, 2026. Born on May 12th, 1949, in Covington, he was the beloved son of the late Charles and Mary Clenney.
A proud 1967 graduate of Holmes High School, Chris cherished the friendships and memories made during his school years and reconnected with his graduating class. He continued his education at University of Kentucky, earning his bachelor’s degree in 1971. He often told colorful stories about time spent in Lexington with his cousin and best friend, Donnie Baker and their college roommates.
Chris found great joy in mentoring young athletes through coaching youth football with the Bengal Tigers as well as other teams throughout northern Kentucky. Chris continued coaching long after his sons had aged out of the program, dedicating countless hours to encouraging and supporting young players in the community.
Known especially for his love of cooking, Chris enjoyed collecting recipes and preparing meals tailored to each family member’s favorite flavors. He took immense pride in bringing loved ones together around the table, creating memories through his thoughtful cooking and generosity.
In addition to his parents, Chris was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas Clenney and Tyrone Clenney, and his sister, Patricia Fleckenstein.
He leaves behind his loving children: Michael (Charlynn) Ballinger, Charles (Seiko) Clenney, and Megan (Brandon) Herald. Chris found joy with his six cherished grandchildren: Parker, Brennen, Chloe, Riley, Raigan, and Callan, who will continue to carry forward his love, kindness, and dedication to family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 21st, 2026, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Pride Park Community Center, 5606 Taylor Mill Road, Taylor Mill, KY 41015.
