Obituary For Chukwudumeje “Joshua” Nzekwu

Chukwudumeje “Joshua” Nzekwu, 38, of Cincinnati, OH passed away unexpectedly on January 4, 2026.

Born August 1, 1987 in Lagos, Nigeria to Greg and Binta Nzekwu, Dumeje was the baby boy of the family, until the arrival of his youngest sister, Teeto, seven years later. Growing up in Nigeria, he was a loyal friend and was a mummy’s boy and was the one to bring light to every moment, no matter how tense it got.

Dumeje moved to the United States in 2014 for college. He obtained his associate’s degree in information technology from Cincinnati State and later graduated from NKU with his Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. Dumeje most recently worked as a Senior Systems Analyst at Fern Expositions.

He met his wife, Erin Nzekwu, in late 2021 and they were married in June of 2022 in a small ceremony in Cincinnati. Dumeje and Erin were inseparable, often taking road trips to new places on a whim. Even though they loved a good adventure, Dumeje and Erin spent most of their time at home, cooking together, laughing together, and dreaming about the future.

Dumeje enjoyed watching Arsenal Football Club, playing with his nieces and nephews, and spending time with his loved ones and friends. He is known for his big heart, being the best listener, and always looking to make people smile and laugh.

He is survived by Erin Nzekwu (spouse), Iloba Nzekwu (brother), Eze Osotule (brother), Steph Nzekwu (sister), Thelma Teriba (sister), Teeto Kirk (sister), Greg and Binta Nzekwu (parents) and many dear friends.

A visitation will be held on January 17, 2026, 11 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with a funeral service to begin at 12:00 p.m. at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home (427 S. Ft Thomas Ave, Fort Thomas, KY 41075).

In lieu of flowers, donations to Dumeje “Joshua” Nzekwu memorial fund (https://everloved.com/life-of/joshua-nzekwu/) are appreciated.
