Obituary For Clifford Lynn Back
Clifford Lynn Back, 70, of Latonia, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and great grandfather, passed away peacefully at home November 16, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 18, 1954, in Whitesburg, Kentucky, Clifford was a man of remarkable character and deep values, leaving an indelible mark on the lives those who knew him.
An Army Sgt., Clifford proudly served with the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles, where he had exceptional skills as a Jungle Warfare Expert and Demolition Expert, earning the rank of Sergeant while stationed in the Panama Canal Zone with the 518th Engineer Company. His leadership abilities led him to quickly rise to the position of squad leader, reflecting his dedication and commitment to his fellow soldiers.
Clifford is most fondly remembered for his love of hunting and fishing, pastimes that brought him immense joy and a sense of peace. He had a unique ability to forge relationships with everyone he met, never knowing a stranger. His engaging personality shone through in lively debates about the Bible, a subject he was passionate about. Clifford was the embodiment of generosity, often giving “the shirt off his back” to someone in need, all without seeking recognition or praise for his selflessness.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Brenda Combs Back; their daughter, Jamie (Steve) Twehues; and his cherished grandchildren, Christian (Amber) Back, Dylon (Mackenzie) Rowland, Hunter (Kylie) Rowland, and granddaughters Amelia Rowland and Everly Evinston. He also leaves behind his sisters, Debbie (Tony) Pfeffer and Michaelle (Andy) Wilson; his brother, Jeff Back; six nieces; and eleven great-nieces and nephews, who will all carry his memory in their hearts.
Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Winifred L. Webb Back, whose love and guidance shaped the man he became. Also preceded in death by a son, Christopher Back, and a brother, Kelly Back. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2024, from 12-1 PM, at Oak Ridge Baptist Church, 6056 Taylor Mill Road, Taylor Mill, where memorial services will be held at 1 PM.
A graveside service to honor Clifford’s life will take place on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 2:00 PM, at Floral Hills Cemetery in Covington, Kentucky with military honors. Family and friends will meet at the Floral Hills parking lot.
His legacy of kindness, love for family, and unwavering support will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
