Obituary For Colin Washnock

Colin Washnock, of Union, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. Born in North Bend, Ohio, to the late George and Alma McGuire Washnock, Colin grew up alongside ten siblings.

Colin worked for more than 48 years as a boat captain with Southern Harbor, Morehead Marina, and McGinnis Inc. He took pride in his work and the years he spent on the river, where he made many lasting friendships.

Colin loved all kinds of music and had a remarkable memory for it. He could hear a song and tell you the artist, the year it came out, and everything he knew about it. He also loved old cars, especially Chevys, and enjoyed following the Cincinnati Reds, Pete Rose, the Cincinnati Bengals and the Kentucky Wildcats.

Colin and his beloved wife, the late Jane K. Washnock, shared 58 years of marriage. Together, they raised a family whose love now spans several generations. In addition to Jane and his parents, Colin was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Washnock; his daughters, Linda Pack and Marlena Diresta; and five of his siblings.

He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Bratton; his siblings, Ralph Washnock (Martha), Ruth Boone, Jeanie Griffin, Gary Washnock (Betty), and Pamela Conley (James); and his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Family and friends will gather on Monday, September 28, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Stith Funeral Home, 7500 U.S. Hwy. 42, Florence, KY 41042. Burial will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Erlanger, Kentucky.
