Obituary For Daniel H. Polly

Daniel H. Polly of Dry Ridge, age 76, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at his home. He was born in Covington, KY on March 21, 1950.

He was the only child of the late Loretta {Hartman} Polly and Daniel Andrew Polly. He retired from Roadway Express. Dan had a strong work ethic and always kept himself busy doing projects on his home or someone else’s.

He was a 4th degree black belt and a member of NKKS where he taught Karate. He also taught Martial Arts at NKU. Dan was a Kentucky Colonel and a proud member of the NRA. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and supporting his grandkids at their events. Dan cherished and protected his family to the fullest. He found joy in going hunting, teaching his grandkids how to shoot clay targets, or making a big pot of chili for everyone to eat.

Many people will remember Dan for a project he helped them with and a skill or lesson that he taught them. He was a loyal man, built on strength and courage, with a wonderful sense of humor that will be deeply missed by those who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his in-laws, Pat and Rita Barth, and by his Godchild, Mary Elizabeth Cahill.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Carol Barth Polly; children, Amy Polly Schry (Rob), Katie Polly, D.J. Polly (Connie), and Mike Polly (Meagan); beloved grandchildren, Danny and Ella Polly and Toby, Mitch, Parker, Maddie Schry; siblings-in-law, Jody Rapp (John), Debbie Cahill (Dave), Mary Pat Noll (Tony), Diane Ryan (Mike), and Joe Barth (LeeAnne); many nieces and nephews; as well as several other friends and relatives who will cherish his memory.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at St. Barbara Catholic Church, 4042 Turkeyfoot Rd, Erlanger, KY 41018. The funeral mass will begin at 6:00 PM. Following mass, a reception will be held at the church from 7:00 PM until 11:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation by clicking here or a mass for the repose of his soul.
