Obituary For David E. Roark, Sr.

David E. Roark, Sr., a man known for his spontaneity, steadfast character, and generous heart, passed away on April 8, 2026, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born in Newport, Kentucky, on February 12, 1949, David lived a life marked by simplicity, loyalty, and a deep sense of family and community.

David was a plumber by trade, dedicating his working years to his craft with the same high standards that defined many aspects of his life. Notably, his love for automobiles was a reflection of his pride and discernment—he insisted on driving only vehicles manufactured by General Motors, a testament to his value for reliability and quality.

Known among family and friends for his easy-going nature and ability to get along with everyone, David carried an ornery charm and a stubborn streak that endeared him to those close to him. His generosity was well known; he would readily give the shirt off his back to a stranger, embodying a spirit of kindness and compassion. Spontaneity was another hallmark of his personality, often demonstrated by his whimsical drives to places like Pigeon Forge, moments that symbolized his zest for life and love of adventure.

David found joy in fishing and the thrill of dirt track racing, hobbies that brought him peace and excitement alike. These interests, along with his heartfelt relationships, paint the picture of a man who balanced simplicity with depth and passion.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Eula Roark and Alice Roark (nee Peters); his beloved wives, Shirley Roark and Carolyn Roark; brothers Paul Roark and Holman Roark; children Jennifer Metcalf, Ramona Hummel, Kathy Hill, Albert Ernest, and James Vaughan; and grandson Brandon Bryant.

David leaves behind a rich legacy of family who carry his memory forward. He is survived by his son, David (Dawn) Roark, Jr.; daughters Lisa (Chris) Bryant, Michele (Shawn) Connett, and LeeAnn (George) Michalek; and a large and loving extended family comprising grandchildren Meghan, Patrick, Evan, Doug, Dylan, Matthew, Jessica, Alicia, TJ, Samantha, Allen, Tonya, Sonya, Ronnie, Tracy, Rachel, Kay, Sonny, Jessica, and Dawn; as well as great-grandchildren Tenley, Everley, Nolan, Amelia, Lucas, and William, along with numerous other family members and friends who cherished him dearly.

A visitation to honor and remember David will be held on April 15, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed by a service at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northern Kentucky, located at 4350 Dixie Hwy, Erlanger, KY 41018. A graveside service will take place immediately following at Greendale Cemetery in Osgood, Indiana.
