Obituary For David V. Allen
David V. Allen passed away suddenly on Friday, January 17, 2025 at his home in Edgewood, KY. He was born in Maysville, KY on April 12, 1954 to Marion Allen and Regina (Becker) Allen, and raised in Fort Thomas. Dave made lifelong friends there, one of whom assigned him the nickname “Cheef,” which stuck. He graduated Highlands High School with his class of 1972 and continued his education and friend-gathering at NKU where he earned a BS in Business. One of the many friends he met there was Linda Schaefer, whom he fell in love with and married in 1979. Linda and David welcomed Michael and Karolyn to their family whom they raised and loved.
After graduation, Dave continued collecting friends at R.L. Polk where he worked for 20+ years as a systems analyst, and in IT Management at US Bank, where he retired in 2016.
Dave was soft-spoken and easy going, much like the antique cars he collected and restored. You have probably seen him driving the 1917 Overland or 1932 Plymouth Roadster in a local parade. He made (and kept forever) friends everywhere: at HHS, the NKU Greek Community, Campbell County Game and Fish, the Northern KY - Greater Cincinnati Antique Automobile Club of America, and Mary Queen of Heaven Parish. He was always willing to help you dig a hole, fix a car, move your belongings, be a traveling companion, or watch a game and share a beer.
Along with Linda, Mike and Jaime, Karolyn and Austin Nance, Dave leaves behind his sister Gina Trapp, brother- and sister-in-law Doug and Pam Schaefer, 1 granddaughter, Monicka Allen; 4 nieces and nephews, Christopher and Mackenzie Schaefer, and Luke and Lacee Trapp; extended family members Kayte and Craig Girten and Mike and Cheryl Berkel, as well as all those friends he picked up on the ride. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to two organizations that were important to Dave: Catholic Charities or Mary Queen of Heaven Church.
