Obituary For Debra Kay Murrell
Debra Kay 'Debbie' Murrell, 70, of Burlington, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lucille Murrell, and her siblings, David Murrell (Ella, and Martha Sue Vanover.
Debbie's memory lives on in the hearts of her sisters, Barbara Lee Hungler and Margaret Ann Sharp (Danny); her brothers, George Murrell Jr. and Michael Ray Murrell; her beloved niece, Jodie Rigney, and her nephew, David Grant. Her two beagles Maggie and Penelope also miss Debbie very much.
Debbie Murrell had an adventurous spirit and a kind, caring heart. She loved to travel, anywhere from Niagara Falls to Alaska, she could be found making the most out of every opportunity life gave her to experience something new. She found joy in togetherness, taking trips across the country with her niece, Jodie. They took many trips to Vegas, where they'd visit casinos and go to concerts, enjoying the music of the Eagles, Cher, and more, making memories that will be cherished forever.
What made Debbie really special was her capacity for caring. Whether it be for people, pets, or her orchids, Debbie was a caretaker, it was what she did best. She spent her career as a caregiver in nursing facilities and with Visiting Angels, bringing some of her light into the lives of those who needed it most. Just a friendly 'Hey!' and a wave from Debbie was enough to brighten your day. Debbie was a lot of things to a lot of people; a sister, an aunt, a friend; and through all of the unique roles she played in so many lives, she will be best remembered for the care she showed to them all.
Funeral services are to be held Wednesday, June 3, 2026. Visitation will take place from 11:00AM to 1:00PM, the Funeral Service will begin at 1:00PM, followed by interment at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens at 2:00PM.
