Obituary For Diane Jeannine Young

Diane Jeannine Young, 86, peacefully passed away on February 3, 2026, at her home in Florence, Kentucky, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on November 8, 1939, in Ludlow, Kentucky, Diane’s life was characterized by her devotion to family, passion for her work, and love for her friends.

Diane began her journey as a dedicated homemaker, nurturing her family until her children went off to college. She then embarked on a fulfilling career as the assistant to the superintendent of McAlpin's Department Store, where she worked for 15 years. Her entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly when she and her husband, Wayne Young, established Ghent House Bed and Breakfast in Ghent, Kentucky, and ran it successfully for 28 years. The establishment not only became a beloved destination for guests but also a place where her grandchildren now share their culinary talents as chefs.

As a cherished member of the Richwood Presbyterian Church, Diane contributed to her community in many meaningful ways. She reveled in the simple joys of life, finding happiness in baking, coloring, playing cards, and observing wildlife, particularly birds and deer.

Diane is survived by her son, Michael Young of Bromley, and her daughters, Vickie Norris of Florence and Melody Smith of Cincinnati. She was a proud grandmother to Hannah Norris, Katie Burchett, Emma Lytle, David Smith III, and Patrick Norris, and a dear great-grandmother to Benjamin Burchett, Lilianna Burchett, Penelope Burchett, Jeramiah Burchett, Preston Lytle, Merritt Lytle, and Elowyn Norris.

She was predeceased by her husband, Wayne Young and their son, Mark Young, as well as her parents, Forest and Mari Olive Rush nee Morris.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 1:00 PM until the hour of Memorial Service at 2:00 PM all at Richwood Presbyterian Church, 1070 Richwood Rd, Walton, KY 41094.

Diane Jeannine Young will be remembered for her warmth, hospitality, and the love she instilled in everyone around her. Her legacy will undoubtedly live on through her family, friends, and the countless lives she touched throughout her journey.
