Obituaries

Donna Joy Scroggins (née Wright), age 85, of Florence, Kentucky, entered into the presence of her Lord on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. Though her family mourns her passing, they find comfort in knowing she is now free from pain and at peace in the presence of her Savior.

Donna had a wonderful smile, a beautiful personality, and a genuine kindness that made lasting friendships wherever she went. Selfless, compassionate, and always thinking of others, she never met a stranger. She proudly introduced herself as "Granny," a title that reflected not only her role within her own family but the nurturing spirit she shared with everyone she met.

Family was Donna's greatest joy. Raised as an only child by her mother and grandmother, she understood the importance of unconditional love and carried that devotion throughout her life as she raised her two daughters. She remained deeply involved in her family’s lives, taking a sincere interest in whatever brought them joy. Whether it meant spending weekends at dog rescue events, cheering on Friday night games, or simply being around a dinner table sharing encouragement and support, Donna's love was evident in both the big moments and the everyday ones. Her compassion extended to animals as well. She enjoyed fostering rescue dogs and was known for her over-the-top generosity, once caring for a strangers dog during the day so he could work, returning the beloved companion in the evening.

Donna was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Walton, where her Christian faith guided the way she loved and served others. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering love that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Donna was preceded in death by her mother, Vera (J.D.) Burgess; her father, Sheriod Wright; and her grandmother Grace Kemper Knox.

Surviving her are daughters, Lisa Smith and Shera Keeton; grandson, Daniel (Amy) Scroggins; and her great-granddaughter, Maddie (Tanner) Scroggins-Craddock.

Services will be held on Wednesday, July 22nd at First Baptist Church Walton, 47 South Main Street, Walton, KY 41094. Visitation is from 11:00am to the start of service at 1:00pm. Donna will be laid to rest at Walton Cemetery.
