Obituary For Donna Lou Green

Donna Lou Green, born on January 24, 1936, in Williamstown, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026, at Boonespring Care Center in Union, Kentucky. She was 90 years old, surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing.

A devoted caregiver, Donna dedicated many years of her life to nurturing others. She worked passionately at both the Grant County Jail and the Children’s Home, making a significant impact in the lives of many who were fortunate enough to cross her path. Her commitment to caring extended far beyond her professional life; she was a beloved mother of four and affectionately known as "Granny" to an impressive lineage of 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Her warm heart and nurturing spirit have left an indelible mark on countless young people over her nine decades, earning her the affection of thousands throughout the years.

Donna was a cornerstone for six generations of family and friends, always embodying warmth and acceptance. She had an innate ability to bring people together, creating an atmosphere that was both inviting and comforting. Her love knew no bounds, and she shared it freely with everyone she met, becoming a positive influence on all around her.

Beyond her inspiring role as a caregiver and matriarch, Donna enjoyed simple pleasures in life, such as home decorating and working on crossword puzzles, and indulging in games of solitaire and word searches. These moments brought her joy and added to the tapestry of her rich and fulfilling life.

Donna was preceded in death by her grandson, Travis Alig, her brothers, Gerald and Gary Whaley, and her sister, Joyce French. She is also preceded in death by her parents Emmett and Lorretta (Vice) Whaley.

Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her children, Joy (Randy) Appelman, Rob (Kim) Green II, Lori (Jeff) Alig, and Bill (Kelly) Green, along with her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren who remain to honor her legacy.

A visitation will be held on February 26, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM, all taking place at Alliance Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Florence, Kentucky.
