Obituary For Dorothy Edith Hampton
Dorothy Edith Hampton, 91, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at her residence in Union, Kentucky. She was born in Augusta, Kentucky on July 16, 1934 to the late Samuel and Salome (Goecke) Todd.
Edith grew up in a quaint little river town along the Ohio River. She proudly graduated as high school class valedictorian in 1952 from Augusta High School. Edith perused a career in finance and worked for the American General Finance Company for 46 years before retiring.
She devoted a lot of her time to caring for friends and family. Edith was an avid reader and enjoyed reading about frontier life, southern plantations, and Amish life. She was a long-time parishioner at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Crescent Springs. Known for her gentle spirit and boundless kindness, she constantly looked for ways to support and uplift others. Edith also helped teach literacy to the disabled in her spare time. She kept the best humor and attitude, always making someone laugh. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Samuel and Salome Todd; her loving husband, Robert Andrew Hampton; her son, Jeff Patrick Hampton and his wife, Kathy Steele Hampton; and three brothers, George, Robert, and Thomas Todd.
Those left here to carry on her loving legacy are her daughter and caregiver, Shawna (Chuck Crawford) Hagedorn; grandsons, Andrew (Mary Wurtz) Hampton and Jacob Hagedorn; one sister, Helen Bishop; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family and good friends.
A memorial visitation will be held for family and friends on Friday, June 12, 2026 from 5:00 PM until the hour of service at Linnemann Funeral Home 30 Commonwealth Ave Erlanger, KY 41018. The memorial service will begin at 6:00 PM as catholic prayers and rites will be read.
