Obituary For Dorothy Starnes
Dorothy Starnes, 90, of Independence, Kentucky, peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, September 25, 2026. Her earthly journey came to an end as she entered her eternal home.
Dorothy loved the Lord and served Him faithfully throughout her life. Her faith was a guiding light, and she attended Community Family Church.
Dorothy's greatest work was not found in a career, but in the loving home she built. She devoted her life to her family as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved caring for her home and cooking for everyone, and she was especially famous for her homemade yeast rolls and many other delicious dishes. She took great pride in being the foundation of a five-generation family. Dorothy was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Eugene Starnes; daughter, Vickie Unthank; son-in-law, James Whalen; parents, Troy and Anna Bush; and brother, Gearold Bush.
Dorothy is survived by her loving children, Michael (Jennifer) Starnes, Saundra Whalen, Douglas (Tonya) Starnes, and Rebecca (Rockie) Kendall; 15 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Clyde Bush, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m., with burial immediately following at Independence Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Community Family Church or St. Elizabeth Hospice.
