Obituary For Edith Katherine Cox

Edith Katherine Cox, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away in Cincinnati, Ohio, on October 28, 2026, at the age of 84. She was born on May 16, 1942, in Covington, Kentucky, to Roy F. and Anabelle Lawhead (nee Clark).

Edie was a devoted and loving partner to her husband of 49 years, Jerry Cox; and a nurturing mother to her daughter, Pamela (Richard) Jones; and step-daughters, Brenda (Jeff) Comer, Cathy (Ed) Miller, Kelli (Greg) Early, and Sharon (Ernie) Flatt. Her sister Carolyn (Bobby) Race and many other family members and friends remember her fondly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings Lawrence, James, Harold, Della, Sadie, and Charles.

A faithful member of Covington Eastside Church of the Nazarene, Edie served on the board, taught Sunday School, and was affectionately known as the Ever Ready Bunny for her tireless energy. Her love for Christ and her community was evident in all she did. Known for her impeccable housekeeping and delicious cooking, especially her famous 7-layer salad, broccoli casserole and veggie pizza, she brought warmth and joy to all who knew her.

Services dates and times will be published shortly. She will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell. Edie will be deeply missed, but her spirit and love will remain in the hearts of all who had the honor of knowing her.

In memory of Edie, donations are suggested to Hospice of Cincinnati or Covington Eastside Church of the Nazarene at 2505 Eastern Avenue, Covington, KY 41014.
