Obituary For Elizabeth J. Brooks

Elizabeth Brooks was born on May 22, 1941, and departed this life on January 7, 2026, at Christ Hospital. She was born to the union of James Jackson and Loistein (Oakley) Jackson in Covington, Kentucky. She was a member of St. James AME Church in Covington, Kentucky.

Elizabeth graduated in 1959 from William Grant High School. Following high school, she relocated to Chicago, Illinois, where she was employed by Spiegel’s Catalog Company. It was there that she met her husband, James Brooks. The couple later moved to Nebraska and then to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where Elizabeth worked as a beautician.

Elizabeth earned her associate degree and went on to become a prison administrator with the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. She retired from the Department of Corrections in 2003 and returned home to Cincinnati, Ohio. Upon her return, she worked as a legal secretary for attorney Lisa K. Crawford.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, James Huddleston and Fred Jackson. She leaves to cherish her memory her siblings: Barbara Phipps (Robert), LaRoma Fowler (Richard), Earlene Stone (George), and Thomas Jackson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 9:00 am until 10:00 am, on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the Walker Funeral Home - Northern Kentucky, 1129 Garrard Street, Covington (41011). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, beginning at 10:00 am. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor the legacy she leaves behind.

She will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery, 2167 Dixie Highway, Ft Mitchell, Kentucky 41017.
