Obituary For Elma Jean "Wink" Kramer
Elma Jean “Wink” (Hornbeck) Kramer passed away peacefully on Friday, July 31, 2026 at the age of 88.
Wink is survived by her children Sherry Stapleton (Jeff), Karen Spencer and Lisa Kramer; 7 grandchildren Brandi Hall, Kristen Clifton, Eric Elders, Casey Spencer, Elle Stapleton, Sydney Graves, Rachel Fitzpatrick; and 8 great-grandchildren Cally Glaza, Chloe Glaza, Ava Clifton, Lincoln Spencer, Tommy Clifton, Jorge Bernal, Braxton Clifton and Diana Spencer.
Wink was preceded in death by her husband Paul Kramer; her parents Elmer and Nellie Hornbeck; brother Jim Hornbeck; sister Barb Trimnell; and her infant son Mark Scott Kramer.
Wink retired from Kmart in 1997 after 25 years, where she worked in the cash office and brought her loyalty, giving and loving spirit to all who worked with her during that time. She remained friends with many of her past co-workers long after her retirement.
Wink passed away on what would have been her and Paul’s 70th wedding anniversary. Wink was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and a friend to anyone who knew her. She was a loyal companion to Paul and enjoyed supporting him as well as volunteering in other organizations associated with baseball and the Cincinnati Reds. Wink was a longstanding member of the Rosie Reds organization. The softball field at St. Henry High School in Erlanger, Kentucky is named after her. Paul and Wink attended Holmes High School, graduated in 1955 and organized an annual high school reunion which continued until 2025, their 70th!
Wink found great joy in her family and enjoyed attending the many games, concerts, plays and events of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was always there to support them in any way.
Our mother has been a wonderful and selfless shining light and we have been honored to be her daughters.
Services will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026 at St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church, 10272 US-42, Union, Kentucky. The family will receive visitors from 12:00 – 2:00 with eulogies at 2:15 followed by the funeral mass. A reception will immediately follow the service at the Orleans Clubhouse, 2590 Saint Charles Circle, Union, Kentucky.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Heart Association (PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692)
