Obituary For Garnett A. Rankin
Garnett A. "Butch" Rankin, age 79, of Florence, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2026. Born on October 28, 1946, in Cynthiana, Kentucky, he was the son of Earl and Anna Bee Rankin (née Barnes).
Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Anna Bee Rankin.
He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 55 years, Carol J. Rankin (née Gay); his sons, Michael A. (Olivia) Rankin and Douglas Scott (Jennifer) Rankin; his grandchildren, Landon M. Rankin, Brinkli R. Rankin, Addison Hammons, Landyn Hammons, Luca A. Rankin, and Leighton S. Rankin; his brother, Michael J. (Gladys) Rankin; his sister, Linda E. (Mick) Gilliam; along with many other family members and friends who cherished him.
Butch had a passion for Kentucky basketball and treasured the time spent with his grandchildren. He was a dedicated member of Florence Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a Deacon and contributed to the children's ministry. He was also a proud U.S. Army veteran.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2026, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Florence Baptist Church, located at 642 Mt. Zion Road, Florence, KY.
In loving memory of Butch, contributions may be made in his honor to Tunnels to Towers or Hope Ministries.
Butch's life will be remembered with love and gratitude by all who knew him.
