Obituary For Gary Lee Capito, Sr.
Gary Lee Capito, Sr., 52, of Crittenden, KY, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026. Born on August 17, 1973, Gary was the beloved son of Donna Capito and the late Thomas Lee Capito.
Gary was known for his fun-loving spirit, passionate heart, and charismatic personality that could light up any room. He lived life fully and never met a stranger, leaving lasting impressions and cherished memories with everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Gary had a love for NASCAR, catfishing, RC cars, skateboarding, and the art of tattooing. He was an avid collector of antiques, coins, four-leaf clovers, and Hot Wheels cars. His hobbies reflected his unique personality and appreciation for both adventure and nostalgia.
Throughout his life, Gary worked in construction and as a chef at several restaurants, where he shared his talent and love for cooking with others. He later fulfilled his dream of owning and operating Gary’s Grill Inn in Corinth, Kentucky, where he became known not only for his food, but for the friendships and connections he built with his community.
In addition to his father, Gary was preceded in death by his beloved niece, Deonna Capito.
He is survived by his loving mother, Donna Capito; his children, Christianna (Michael) Penman, Angelica (Braden Turner) Smith, Caitlin (Clayton) Tipton, Thomasina (Thomas) Hoskins, Gary (Kaya Mangeot) Capito Jr., and Charles (Elizabeth Harris) Capito; his sisters, Tamela Wells, Teresa Husbeth, Tonya Capito, and Ericka Pierce; his brother, Hank Basham; and his 18 cherished grandchildren. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, his lifelong best friend Brian Watts, and his loyal canine companion, Pepper.
Gary’s larger-than-life personality, generous spirit, and deep love for his family and friends will forever be remembered and greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, from 12:00 P.M. until the Funeral Service at 1:00 P.M. at Serenity Funeral Care, 40 West 6th Street, Covington, KY 41011.
