Obituary For Gary Thomas Menefee

Gary Thomas Menefee, 69, of Morning View, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2026.

Born to the late Tilford "Pete" Menefee and Hazel Belew Menefee, Gary lived a life defined by hard work, service, family, and a deep appreciation for the simple things in life.

Gary proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before beginning a long career as a machinist. He retired from Safran after many years of dedicated service. Outside of work, Gary's heart was on the farm, where he found joy and contentment in tending the land he loved. He was a man who appreciated life's simple pleasures and was happiest spending time with his family.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Gary treasured the memories of taking his boys fishing when they were young. He was mechanically inclined and could fix just about anything, whether he enjoyed the task or not. Family and friends often relied on his knowledge, skill, and willingness to lend a hand.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Linda Scott Menefee; his sons, Derek (Shalyn Carter) Menefee and John (Chrissy) Menefee; his grandsons, Atticus and Anson Menefee; his brothers, Mike Menefee, Ike (Mai) Menefee and Roger (Donna) Menefee; and his sisters, Regina Menefee, Becky (Mike) McNamee, and Omi (Chris) Acree.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his daughter, Anna Menefee, and his brother, Jimmy Menefee.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, Kentucky 41051. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow at St. Patrick Cemetery in Verona, Kentucky.

Gary will be remembered for his quiet strength, his willingness to help others, his love of family, and the steady, dependable presence he provided throughout his life. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
