Obituary For George Donald Kramer
George Donald Kramer, Ph.D., 89, of Carlsbad, CA, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2024. He was a graduate from Covington Latin School, Thomas More University and received a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Cincinnati. George was employed at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory as a Theoretical Physicist from 1962 until his retirement in 1996.
George was an avid bridge, card and game player, and helped his children on a nightly basis with math homework. He volunteered helping seniors with their tax returns, as he had a great interest in "numbers" which aided in a successful hobby in the stock market.
Born in Covington, KY, on October 28, 1934, he was the youngest child of George and Rose Kramer. George had two siblings, Louis Kramer and Lois Anneken, who preceded him in death.
After marrying Kathryn Boehling from Cincinnati, OH, in 1956, they made their way to San Diego, CA, where he was employed by General Dynamics Corp.
He and his wife, Kathryn, travelled extensively after retirement to Europe and frequently returned to many places they enjoyed. He enjoyed classical music and would always have the classical station on the radio. His favorite composer was Chopin, enjoying the Nocturnes the most.
He is survived by his devoted wife of sixty-seven years, Kathryn, six children: Anne, George, Stephen (Sharon), Thomas (Julie), Carolyn (Brent Hoy), and Michelle (James Gharib), and eight grandchildren: Stephanie and Sean (Stephen and Sharon), Kathleen, David and Kristine (Thomas and Julie), Madeleine (Carolyn and Brent), John and Daniel (Michelle and James) and many nieces and nephews in the Covington and Greater Mid-Atlantic region.
Services will be at St. Patrick Catholic Church on March 7th, including viewing at 12:00 noon, rosary at 12:30 and funeral Mass at 1:00, followed by a private burial at Mission San Luis Rey Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in George Kramer's name (in the memo section on the check), made payable to Thomas More University. Send to Thomas More University, 333 Thomas More Parkway, Crestview Hills, KY, 41017, or you can make a donation online at:https://www.givecampus.com/campaigns/41402/donations/new?a=7355115.
