Obituary For Gerald Mees
Gerald J. Mees 79, of Dayton Kentucky, born July 27th, 1946 passed away on September 17th, 2025 at UC Hospital from life threatening injuries from a car accident.
He was born and raised in Mount Healthy, Ohio until moving to Dayton, Ky. He is survived by his wife of 31 years Cynthia (Lovelace) Mees. Sons; Michael Overman, Anothony (Dana) Overman and Jonathan (Julie) Overman. Grandchildren; Jackson, Avery, Emma, Kristian, Owen, and Meadow Overman. Brother; Kenny (Linda) Mees and Nieces; Kara Mees and Lauren Mees.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence (Bud) and Flora (Mcphearson) Mees and sister Mary (Mees) Boskins. Father and Mother-in-law Lawrence H and Patrica (Crail) Lovelace and Brother-in-law Steven Lovelace.
Gerry was a Vietnam Veteran Shot in the Tet Offense in 1968, where he received two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He worked for 37 years with Unites States Post Office and 5 years with Roy Tailor Uniforms.
Gerry loved boating, living on a houseboat for 12 years plus at A Riverside Marina. He belongs to the Motto Guzzi Riders Club, which he made many trips riding with friends all over the United States. He was always the life of the party never a loss of words. His stories were endless; he never forgot dates of any of his adventures.
His life was shortened by PTSD and health problems from military service, including heart issues and four types of cancer.
He was a member of the American Legion Post in Mount Healthy Ohio, and VFW Post 2899 Dayton, Ky, and Letter Carries Union. Visitation will be held at Cooper Funeral Home on Thursday September, 25th, 2025 at 9am-11am. Service will begin at 11am. Burial will be immediately following at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North. Memorials can be donated to VA cancer center Cincinnati OH, VFW Post 2899, and The American Legion Post Mt. Healthy.
