Obituary For Gilbert Joseph Bird Sr.

Gilbert “Gil” Joseph Bird Sr., 93, passed away peacefully at Florence Park Care Center on Thursday June 8, 2023. Gil was born in Cincinnati, OH on March 24, 1930 to the late John and Francis (Kramer) Bird. He was an Army veteran and served 33 years as a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service, at the Eastern Ave. location in Cincinnati. In addition to his parents, Gil was preceded in death by his loving wife Doris Jeanne (O’Bryan) Bird, daughter Debbie Bird Speier, and his 8 siblings. He is survived by his children Gilbert “Rusty” Bird (Diana), Rebecca Van Dame, and James John Bird, 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 from 9am until 10am at St. Henry Church in Elsmere, KY. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow the visitation. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Erlanger, KY. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 644 Linn St. Suite 1026 Cincinnati, OH 45203.
