Obituary For Gregory John Schlarman

Gregory John Schlarman, age 70, passed away on July 9th, 2026. He was born in Covington, KY on August 24th, 1955 to the late Jerome “Jerry” Schlarman and Audrey Schlarman.

Gregory worked as a CAD designer for Time Warner Cable before his retirement. The small things in life brought Greg the most joy. Playing cards and bowling leagues were things Greg and Marlene enjoyed as a couple. He was an avid local sports fan following the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals. His true Kentucky roots came through in his love for the thoroughbreds. On a beautiful day you could likely run into him at Turfway Park or River Downs enjoying live racing.

He was passionate about fishing and loved visiting local lakes, Perry Park and deep sea fishing on trips to his place in Panama City Beach. He would celebrate his rewards of fishing trips with an annual summer fish fry for all his family and friends to enjoy. That was his true happiness, time with his family around him and catching up with lifelong friends from the old neighborhood.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Marlene Schlarman (nee Huntelmann); his parents Jerome “Jerry” Schlarman and Audrey Schlarman; his brothers Mark Schlarman and Ken Schlarman; his sister Janet Groger; and brother-in-law Randy Groger.

Gregory is survived by his children Brooke Busse, Michael Schlarman (Breyanna) and Jeremy Schlarman; Brooke’s children Brayden and Bryson Busse; Michael’s children Layla and Everly Schlarman; sisters Diane Schlarman (Dana), Mary Hutton, Jerri Floyd (Tommy), Terri Miller (Rodney); brother Tim Schlarman (Lori) along with several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Charles “Chuck” Huntelmann for his time and compassion.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July, 14th from 4-6 pm at St. John Church, 627 W Pike St, Covington, KY 41011. Mass of Christian burial will take place following the visitation at 6 pm at St. John Church.

Memorial donations can be sent to Life Learning Center, 20 W 18th Street, Covington, KY 41011.
