Obituary For Harold L. Baird

Harold L. Baird, 79, of Taylor Mill, KY, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, KY. The son of Leonard Marksberry and Margie Ellen {Langston} Marksberry, Harold was born in Covington, KY, on March 14, 1947.

After graduating high school, Harold enlisted with the United States Army. On April 14, 1973, he married the love of his life, Sandy {Ivey} Baird. Together, they built a life rooted in love and were blessed to share nearly 53 years of marriage.

Harold had a natural gift for tinkering and woodworking, often spending hours creating and fixing anything that crossed his path. He also took great enjoyment in yardwork, tending to his outdoor spaces to keep them neat and welcoming. Harold also found joy in life’s lighter moments, especially watching his favorite game show, Family Feud. More than anything, Harold cherished his role as “Papaw.” His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he treasured every moment spent with them. They will fondly remember sitting beside him, working through word searches together; simple, quiet times that meant the world.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Sandy Baird; his beloved daughter, Krista (Eric) Poe; his grandchildren, Sarah Poe (Aidan Jordan), Amber Poe, Jeremy Poe, and Hannah (Mitch) Lehigh; his great-grandson, Hudson Lehigh; and his siblings, Randy Marksberry and Debbie Marksberry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Janie Mason and Marlana Feeback, and his brothers, Lenny Marksberry and Ric Marksberry.

A visitation will be held between 10 AM and 12 PM with Harold’s funeral service to begin at 12 PM on Thursday, April 2nd at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. Harold will be laid to rest at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens immediately after.
