Obituary For Helen Margaret Smoot
Helen Margaret Biddle Smoot, 85, of Hebron passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood on Saturday August 9, 2025, with her daughters by her side. She was the 9th child of 13 born to Frank and Mildred Biddle of Burlington. Helen retired in 1989 from the Boone County Clerks office as a Deputy Clerk where she worked for over 40 years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Burlington Fire Department, served as a Burlington Fire District Board Member, was a long-time member of Burlington Methodist Church and a more recent member of Burlington Baptist Church. She loved to bake and was avid at crossword puzzles. She loved reading historical books, particularly about Kennedy’s and Roosevelt’s.
Helen is survived by her two daughters, Diana (Carl) Anderson of Burlington, Teresa Moore (Ken Schuler) of Hebron, three granddaughters, Amber (Brady) Lighthall of Hebron, Jillian Sanders (Brad Richards) of Ft Myers Beach, Florida, and Sommer (John) Mattox of Lenexa, Kansas, 14 great grandchildren, and one great, great granddaughter. Sister Evelyn Beach of Burlington, and brother Ernie (Wilma) Biddle of Burlington. Being one of 13 children, Helen had many nieces and nephews that she loved very much.
Preceding Helen is death besides her parents were her husband William Ray Smoot, brothers, Paul Biddle, Robert Biddle, Russel (Buster) Biddle, Galen Biddle, Carl Biddle, Joe Biddle, and Kenneth Biddle. Sisters Betty Jones, Laura Lee Wagner, and Mary Jackson.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the time of funeral service, 12:00 PM, at Linnemann Funeral Home, 1940 Burlington Pike, Burlington, KY 41005.
