Obituary For Helen Marie Combs

Helen Marie Combs, 88, née Durbin, passed away at her residence on Sunday, September 20, 2026. She was born on April 9, 1938, in Sullivan, Kentucky, and will be remembered as a woman whose heart was centered on family and whose presence brought warmth, steadiness, and love to those around her.

Helen was super family oriented, and her family was truly her entire life. She shared that love in both quiet and memorable ways, whether through needle point, quilting, or caring for her household plants. These simple but meaningful interests reflected her patient spirit and the comfort she created around her. She also treasured time spent on the road with her daughter, loving their working road trips together. Known as the best copilot on those journeys, Helen was described as her daughter’s “ride or die,” a reflection of her loyalty, companionship, and unwavering devotion. Along the way, her friendly nature left an impression on many.

Survivors include her loving daughter, Brenda (Todd) Riek of Covington and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Steven Wayne Allen; her brothers, Richard and James Durbin; and her sisters, Addie Mae Garrett and Margaret Gangard.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to the hour of Memorial Service at 1:30 p.m. all in Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, 316 Elm St, Ludlow, Kentucky 41016.

As those who loved Helen remember her, they will hold close the image of a woman who gave herself fully to her family, found joy in the everyday, and made every mile of life’s journey better simply by being there. Helen will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
