Obituary For Howard Requardt

Howard Requardt, 100, of Edgewood, KY, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2026, at his residence. The son of the late Louise and Edward Requardt, Howard was born on September 24, 1925, in Covington, KY.

Howard answered the call to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. From 1943 to 1946, he proudly served during World War II and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. In 1949, Howard married the love of his life, Loraine {Gooch} Requardt, their marriage spanned 63 wonderful years. Howard resided in Covington until 1955, when he and Loraine settled in Edgewood where they raised their family.

He loved spending time with family, attending family gatherings, camping, and traveling. His adventures took him throughout the United States, Alaska, Europe, the Canadian Rockies, and many other destinations. Howard was also a devoted Cincinnati Reds fan and was thrilled to celebrate his 100th birthday at a Reds vs. Cubs game, where he was recognized on the stadium's JumboTron. Howard also enjoyed playing cards and spent countless hours enjoying games of euchre, bridge, hearts, and spades with family and friends. A lifelong member of Immanuel Methodist Church, Howard was active in the Methodist Men’s Group, the Men's Bible Study Group, and the Happy Loafers Group.

Howard will be deeply missed by his beloved daughters, Nancy (Bob) Messmer and Judy Requardt; daughter-in-law, Gail Requardt; grandchildren, Jenny McCoy, Tammy (Micah) Whitehair, Heather Requardt, Kyle (Brandie) Requardt, Robby (Alissa) Messmer, and Julie Messmer; great-grandchildren, Austin, Colt, and Riley McCoy, Caden and Sami Whitehair, Kaylie Requardt, and Gentry, Gracie, and Kennedy Messmer; three great-great-grandchildren; extended family members, Matthew (JoBeth) Stamm, Greg (Annie) Stamm, Ben, Mya, Joey, and Emmy Stamm; and many other extended family who Howard cherished.

In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Loraine Requardt; son, Terry Requardt; brother, Edward J. Requardt; and sister, Mildred Hettle.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 5th between 9 AM up until the time of Howard’s funeral service at 11 AM at Immanuel Methodist Church, 2551 Dixie Hwy, Lakeside Park, KY 41017. Immediately following his service, Howard will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park where military rites will be held.
