James C. Quinn

February 14, 1938, to November 26, 2024

James “Jim” C. Quinn passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at the age of 86 with his family at his side. Jim was predeceased by his first wife, Carolyn; parents, Joseph and Maude; and siblings Patty and Billy. Affectionately known as Jimbo and JQ to his family and friends, Jim was an avid reader and loved to play golf. He was an active member of St. Pius X Church in Edgewood and a member of the Holy Name Society. He attended many of the Kentucky Derby races in his younger years and grew quite a collection of Derby drinking glasses. He also enjoyed attending monthly lunches with his high school classmates and a nice glass of Woodford. Born to Joseph and Maude Quinn in Covington, KY on February 14, 1938, Jim attended St. Mary’s Cathedral and graduated from Covington Catholic High School in 1956. He earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Dayton and his master’s degree from Villa Madonna. He married Carolyn Cooper on July 11, 1959. They raised five children together. Jim worked as a mechanical engineer for over 40 years until his retirement in 2001. Since retirement, he worked part-time with his sons at Quinn Electric. In his later years after the loss of his first wife, Jim reconnected with a classmate, Jeanne Getts. They were married on August 11, 2007.

Jim is survived by his wife, Jeanne and five children, Shannon (Guy) Zimmerman, Kevin (Kristin), Michael (the late Debbie), Terry (Sheila), and Tim (Melissa) Quinn. He had 15 grandchildren; Meghan, Robbie (Britney), Jackie, Alex (Cassie), Olivia (Andy), Emily, Kaitlyn, Jenna, Ava, Tara (Luke), Matt, Chad, Josh, Corey and the late Trevor; as well as 7 great grandchildren; Grayson, Brayden, Audrey, Benson, Weslie, Margot and Raylan, with number 8 on the way. Jim is also survived by Jeanne’s daughters, Cathleen Gehling, Amy (Mike) Hopkins, and Mary Beth (Ray) Wellbrock, and grandchildren Amanda (Dustin), Michael (Alex), Kevin (Rachel), Emily (Kyle), Sarah (Mitch) and the late Matthew and great grandchildren Mia and Zoey. He is also survived by his sister, Sharon Vreeland.
