Obituary For James D. Foster
James D. “Jim” Foster, 86, of Independence, KY, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood, KY.
Jim lived a life driven by the things he loved most—cars, racing, and, above all, his family. For more than 40 years, he proudly owned and operated Foster Auto Sales, building a business that became an important part of his life and legacy. He also owned and operated Northern Kentucky Auto Auction (NKAA).
A true car enthusiast, Jim could often be found talking about cars, working on them, or enjoying a day at Florence Speedway watching the races. His beloved 1980 red Corvette was his pride and joy.
Jim was also known for his unwavering belief that he was, without a doubt, the most handsome man in the world. Above all, Jim loved his family more than anything in this world and cherished the time he spent with them.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Dinah Foster; sons, James H. Foster and Russell W. Foster; siblings: Harold Foster, Dorothy Thompson and Virginia Thompson; and 3 great-grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his son, James D. (Amie) Foster and 1 daughter; siblings, Bobby Foster and Carol Larkins; lifelong friend, Johnny Wilson; daughter-in-law, Christine Foster; grandchildren: Ashlee (Andrew) Allen, Brandi (Kerry) Allen, Amanda (James) Moore, Brandon (Lianna) Alborg and Corey (Jennifer) Hatton; great-great children: Ayden, Landyn, Penelope, Conner and Jase; and a host of other family members and friends.
A visitation will be held on Monday, September 21, 2026, from 10:00 AM until the funeral service, 12:00 PM, at Linnemann Funeral Home, 30 Commonwealth Ave., Erlanger, KY 41018. Burial will immediately follow at Independence Cemetery.
