Obituary For James David Parrott
James David Parrott, 81, departed this earth on April 18, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Fort Thomas, KY, surrounded by his 5 children.
Jim was the beloved dad of Tina (Blaine) Reynolds, Jimmy (Connie) Parrott, Sharon (Chris) Webster, Dawn (Steven) Woods, and Tracy (Marcos) Ramírez; dear brother to Gary Parrott and Judy Kay Kidwell; and a treasured papaw to 14 grandchildren as well as great-grandpa to 10 great-grandchildren (with one on the way!).
Jim was greeted and welcomed into Heaven with a big hug by his parents Henry Tilford “Shorty” Parrott and Elizabeth “Ann” Blackburn Parrott; his sister Betty Jo Fryler and his great-granddaughter Lily Grace Treadway.
As a longtime resident of Florence, Jim was born in Covington, on April 24, 1944. He was a graduate of Holmes High School.
Owning several rental properties as well as a grocery store, Jim wasn’t just a successful businessman, he was a fixture of his community. Jim worked tirelessly, hardly ever taking a day off at the grocery store in order to provide. Nearly each of Jim’s children at one time or another worked at the grocery store and it was here that he instilled an iron-clad work ethic in each one.
For as hard as Jim worked to care for his family, he worked equally hard to care for the city he called home and his neighbors there. A man to be missed during our own arduous times, he was generous and compassionate, allowing folks to purchase necessities on credit at the grocery store. He was good to the neighborhood kids—giving them penny candy from the store when he saw them. If a tenant had come up short on rent, he allowed them to make it up rather than evict them (or even go a month free). While Jim presented a tough and stubborn exterior, the heart inside was tender and immense.
Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor Jim on Thursday, April 23, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 8461 Dixie Hwy, Florence, KY, 41042. The funeral will be held the following day, Friday, April 24, 2026, at 11:00 AM, also at the funeral home. Immediately following the funeral, Jim will be laid to rest at Wilmington Cemetery, 15472 Madison Pike, De Mossville, Kentucky, 41033.
