Obituary For James Hamilton Humphries

James Hamilton Humphries, 90, of Lexington, KY, passed away on Tuesday, July 8th at Central Baptist Hospital with his loved ones at his side. He was born on July 13, 1934 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Roger and Esther Humphries and grew up in Fort Thomas, KY where he and Kathryn settled down to raise their children. They eventually relocated to San Angelo, Texas for 10 years before making their way back to Lexington, KY to be close to family. James was a sales representative in fine jewelry the majority of his life.

James is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Kathryn, son Roger (Kristina), daughter Jenny (Jeff), granddaughters Maddie and Skylar and grandson Jack. James was also preceded in death by his sister Jane (Ken). Kathryn came from a large family with 12 brothers and sisters and James always considered himself blessed with this extended family.

James was a life-long member of the 1st Presbyterian Church in Fort Thomas, He was a proud member of Mason Lodge of Fort Thomas #808 as well as San Angelo, TX and the Scottish Rite of Valley of Covington. James was also a member of the Shriners for many years.

Funeral services will be held at 1st Presbyterian Church, 220 S Ft. Thomas Ave, Fort Thomas, KY 41075. Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another’s company, and honor the legacy Jim leaves behind on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM. Shortly before the funeral ceremony at 11:00 AM there will be a Masonic service. Directly following the funeral, Jim will be laid to rest at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, 5336 Old Taylor Mill Rd, Covington, KY 41015.

Light refreshments to be served at Latonia Christian Church following the burial.

Memorial donations in Jim’s honor may be made online or in person at services to 1st Presbyterian Church Of Fort Thomas.
