Obituary For James Matthew Sizemore
James Matthew "Matthew" Sizemore, age 26, passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a family and circle of friends whose lives were forever changed by his kind heart and gentle spirit.
Matthew was born in Dixon, Illinois, to his loving mother, Debra Sizemore, and his late father, Jerry Sizemore. He had recently achieved an important milestone by completing welding school and was looking forward to beginning his career as a welder. His future was filled with promise, and those who loved him were excited to watch him pursue the dreams he had worked so hard to accomplish.
Matthew enjoyed spending time on the golf course, watching football and basketball, and making memories with his brothers, family, and friends. Whether sharing a laugh, cheering on his favorite teams, or simply enjoying the company of those he loved, he treasured every moment. His girlfriend, Destiny Harden, lovingly described him as "the most lovable teddy bear," while his mother simply said he had "a good soul"—a description that perfectly captured the kindness, compassion, and warmth he shared with everyone he met. He had a way of making others feel welcome, cared for, and loved, and his gentle spirit will be deeply missed.
Above all, Matthew loved his family. He is survived by his devoted mother, Debra Sizemore; his beloved grandmother, Eva Jewell Sizemore; his siblings, Chad Lunsford (Erica), Brooks Sizemore, and Courtney Mooney; his cherished nieces and nephews, Jasmine Lunsford, Kaleb Lunsford, Trinity Bullock, Jaylah Sizemore, Jordan Sizemore, Jade Sizemore, and Lincoln Sizemore; his loving girlfriend, Destiny Harden; as well as many dear aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and countless friends. He also leaves behind his faithful Shih Tzu and best friend, Lulu, who brought him constant companionship and unconditional love.
Matthew was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Sizemore; his grandparents, James Blankenship, Florene Blankenship, Patsy Becker, Herbert Becker, and James T. Sizemore.
Although Matthew's life was far too short, the love he gave and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His gentle soul, caring heart, warm smile, and unwavering love for his family and friends will never be forgotten. While his passing leaves an immeasurable void, those who loved him find comfort in knowing that the impact he made during his 26 years will last a lifetime.
A Celebration of Life honoring Matthew will be held at a later date. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life, share treasured memories, and honor the remarkable young man whose love and kindness touched so many.
