Obituary For James R. Olbert
James R. Olbert, age 73, of Florence, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, April 18, 2026. Born on October 19, 1952, in Covington, Kentucky, James was the son of Edward and Madeline Wagner (nee Martin).
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Olbert; mother, Madeline Wagner; and brother, Wayne Olbert.
Jimmy is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 49 years, Peggy Olbert; daughter, Amy J. (Mark) Rider; son, James E. (Katie) Olbert; grandchildren, Markie E. (Brittany) Rider, Kaidence E. Olbert, and Killian J. Olbert; great-grandchildren, Tatum M. Rider, Adelynn F. Rider, and Maison E. Rider; sisters, Sharon Cooper, Kathy Byrne, and Terry Olbert; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends whom he considered family.
He had a deep passion for the outdoors, enjoying gardening, fishing, family cookouts, camping, classic cars, and traveling. Jimmy also cherished visits to casinos for gaming and had a lifelong love of music. He dedicated 28 and a half years of his career as a machinist at DuroPaper Bag. Above all, Jimmy treasured his family—his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—bringing warmth and kindness to everyone he met.
A memorial service to honor Jimmy's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, April 26, 2026, with visitation from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions – Northern Kentucky Chapel, located at 4350 Dixie Highway, Erlanger, Kentucky 41018.
