Obituary For James Stone
James “Jim” Stone, 83, of Hebron, KY, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, KY. The son of the late Stanley Allen and Mary Margaret {Fields} Allen, Jim was born in Covington, KY on August 20, 1942.
Jim was a lifelong learner who valued education deeply. He graduated from Walton-Verona High School and went on to earn degrees from Cumberland College, The Ohio State University, and Xavier University. He dedicated more than 30 years of his life to shaping young minds as a teacher at Conner High School, where he was respected by colleagues and beloved by generations of students.
Jim was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Walton. He served his church family with devotion as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. Jim had a passion for Kentucky Wildcats basketball and rarely missed the opportunity to cheer on his beloved Cats. He also found great enjoyment in reading, particularly novels by David Baldacci and James Patterson. Above all else, Jim treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who knew him lovingly as “Paps.”
He will be deeply missed by his children, Kim Stone and Timothy Allen (Shelly) Stone; his brothers, Donald (Wanda) Allen and Lester Paul (Elanie) Allen; his grandchildren, Stanley (Cassie) Stone, Dale (Stephanie) Stone, and Tami (Zac) Conrad; and his great-grandchildren, Kayson Stone, Amelia Stone, Basil Stone, Zayne Conrad, and Maximus Vigil.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Stone; his son, James “Jimmy” Nathan Stone III; his brother, Ray Allen; and his grandson, James “Jayme” Nathan Stone IV.
A visitation will be held between 11 AM and 2 PM with Jim’s funeral to begin at 2 PM on Saturday, May 23rd at First Baptist Church of Walton, 47 South Main St. Walton, KY 41094. Jim will be interred at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
