Obituary For James "Whitey" Reis
James “Whitey” Reis passed peacefully at his home on May 27, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 58 years, Diana; his daughter, Traci Haigis (Marvin); his grandson, Collin Haigis (Allison); and his granddaughters, Kayla Haigis and Karli Haigis; and two great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, an infant son and adult son.
Whitey began his career at IBM in technical engineering, repairing printers and copiers. Over the years, he lent his talents to several companies before ultimately retiring as a Senior Customer Engineer in 2014.
To know Whitey was to love him. His joy was contagious, and his faith in the Lord was strong and unwavering. While he was a man of few words, he possessed deep and strong convictions. One of his greatest joys was using his talents to serve others; he could truly fix, build, and repair anything and everything.
Whitey dedicated many years of service to Main Street Baptist Church, where he taught an adult Bible study class for over ten years and served as a Trustee for over forty years, helping to maintain and repair the building. He was also elected as part of the church's very first group of elders. His love for people was always on display, whether he was serving his church family, helping those in the community, or traveling on mission trips to build and repair homes for those in need.
Visitation will be at Main Street Baptist Church, 11093 Alexandria Pike, Alexandria, Kentucky on Monday, June 1 from 4:00pm-7:00pm. Services will be on Tuesday, June 2 at 10:00am at Main Street.
Memorials may be sent to the Care Mission, 11093 Alexandria Pike, Alexandria, Kentucky. The Care Mission provides food, clothing and small household items to those in need.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Alexandria Funeral Home.
