Obituaries

Jane Christianson, 77, of Latonia, KY, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2026. She was born on December 12, 1948, to the late John and Mildred Antol and was raised in the Kettering/Dayton, Ohio area and graduated from Fairmont East High School.

Jane began her career with Super X Drugs, where she worked as Lead Payroll Accountant for more than 20 years. After the company closed, Jane began a new chapter and earned her RN at age 45 through Christ Hospital. She continued her education at The University of Cincinnati, earning her bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. by the age of 60. While pursuing her degrees, Jane also served as a Professor of Nursing at the University of Cincinnati, sharing her knowledge and passion for nursing with the next generation of nurses.

Jane married Randy Christianson in 1984. Together, they lived in Lebanon and later Anderson, Ohio, before settling at Ryland Lakes Country Club in 1999, where they made their home. They both attend Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Lakeside Park, Kentucky. Jane loved to travel and especially enjoyed cruises, including her most recent Grand European River Tour. She also had a lifelong love of dogs and always had a beloved companion by her side.

Jane spent the last five years of her life living with Alzheimer’s disease, surrounded by the love and care of her family. In April 2026, she entered Mongolia Springs Assisted Living before moving to Legacy Living Memory Care in July. She later received care at St. Elizabeth Hospital and St. Elizabeth Hospice. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all of the healthcare professionals who cared for Jane throughout her journey, especially her nurses, Lori and Renee, for their compassion, kindness, and wonderful care.

She will be deeply missed by her husband of 42 years, Randy Christianson; her children, Scott (Niki) Applegate and Carrie (Steve) Simmons; her siblings, Mary (Fred) Beason and John (Donna) Antol; and her grandchildren, Ella Applegate, Leland Simmons, Arden Simmons, and Atley Simmons.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her firstborn brother, John Antol, and her older brother, Dennis Antol; her grandson, Jacob Applegate; and her beloved dog, Yeager.

Services for Jane will be on Friday, October 2nd with a visitation between 10 AM to 12 PM with her funeral service beginning at 12 PM at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 2718 Dixie Hwy, Lakeside Park, KY 41017. A private family graveside service will be held at Independence Cemetery where Jane will be laid to rest.
