Obituary For Jane Gayle Black Webster
Jane Gayle Black Webster, 85, of Walton, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Fort Thomas, Kentucky. Born on March 3, 1941, in rural Mercer County, Kentucky, near Harrodsburg, Jane Gayle was the daughter of the late James Byford Black and Hazel Lou Bugg Black.
Jane Gayle was a 1959 Graduate of Harrodsburg High School and a 1963 Graduate of Eastern Kentucky University.
Jane Gayle had a love of teaching and took great pride in educating others dedicating her entire professional career to education. Jane Gayle taught at Simon Kenton High School in the Business Department for more than 30 years after beginning her teaching career with two years in the state of Ohio. Jane Gayle inspired many future generations with her teaching and knowledge. She was a member of the Kenton County Retired Teachers Association and The National Education Association.
Jane Gayle was defined by her deep love for family and her faith, being a faithful member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Independence, Kentucky. Jane Gayle had a deep love for shopping, traveling, dancing, listening to music, her beloved University of Kentucky Wildcats Basketball and the Cincinnati Bengals.
Jane Gayle above all loved spending time with her family especially her beloved grandsons who affectionately called her Mimi. Jane Gayle was also very dedicated and instrumental in assisting her husband, David V. Webster with the bookkeeping on the family farm, Rolling Green Farm.
Jane Gayle is survived by her husband of nearly 63 years, David Victor Webster; her son, Brian David "Buzzy" Webster (Diana R. Burden Webster); her grandsons, Dalton B. Webster and Devin J. Webster; and her brother, Jimmie Dorsey Black (Soung Watts-Black).
Jane Gayle's legacy of love, strength and kindness will live on in those who knew her, and her family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the company of Jesus our Lord.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, 11969 Taylor Mill Road, Independence, KY 41051. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 noon, with interment following at Crittenden Christian Cemetery in Crittenden, Kentucky.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hickory Grove Baptist Church Building Fund in Jane Gayle's memory.
