Obituary For Janet Profitt

Janet Profitt, age 80, of Burlington, Kentucky, passed away at Emerald Trace on April 2, 2026. Born December 18, 1945, to John and Ruby Spears, Janet was a beloved member of the community. She was proud to be an active member of Burlington Methodist Church.

Janet was an artist, though she wouldn't have said so herself. Since she was a teenager, she painted pottery and later had expanded her artistic repertoire into stained glass and diamond art, making gifts and holiday decorations that her family will continue to cherish for years to come. Over the years, Janet and her husband, Bob, made many wonderful memories together in Florida, and she left a lasting impression on their community on Nettles Island. A beloved wife, sister, aunt, and friend, Janet will be sincerely missed.

Janet is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Joyce Spears Cross; mother-in-law, Bessie Profitt, and sister-in-law Ardith Blevins.

Janet is survived by her beloved husband, Robert 'Bob' Profitt, who was at her side until the moment she passed. She is also survived by her brother, Joe Spears (Vicky); her sister-in-law, Patricia Swain; nieces, Amy (David); Emily, and Cathy; nephews Joseph(Anh) and James(AnneMarie); and great-nieces and nephews whom she loved profoundly, Adam, Ava, Audrey (Aaron), Evan, Jordan, Brooklynn, Caden, Hazel and Tasha; and also a number of loving cousins. Janet leaves behind dear friends and neighbors Jo and Steve Covington; and furry friends, her sweet and spirited cats, JoJo and Precious.

A memorial service will be held at Burlington Methodist Church in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Emerald Trace Nursing Facility, or Burlington Methodist Church.
