Obituary For Jewell Mitchell

Jewell Mitchell, 86, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, Kentucky.

Born to the late Virgil and Jewell Mitchell, in Mayslick, KY, he entered the world alongside his twin brother, Newell. Jewell proudly served his country in the United States Army and later dedicated many years of hard work as a forklift driver for Kroger before retiring.

In 1965, he married the love of his life, Brenda Crupper. Together they built a life filled with love, faith, and activity. Jewell and Brenda enjoyed walking six miles together every day and loved square dancing, often dancing three or four nights a week. Through their square-dancing club, they traveled together to Hawaii, Fontana NC, and Noblesville IN, creating cherished memories.

Jewell especially loved being a “girl dad” and took great pride and joy in raising his daughters. He was a devoted member of Erlanger Church of Christ and faithfully read his Bible each day. He also enjoyed reading Reader’s Digest and took great pride in keeping up his yard.

He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Newell; sister, Francis Kimmerly; and brothers: Melvin, Eugene, John and Nelson.

Jewell is survived by his loving wife of over 61 years, Brenda Mitchell; daughters, Jo Ann (Tom) Teague and Laura Mitchell; 5 step-grandchildren and 15 step great-grandchildren; sister-in-law: Barbara (Arthur) Noel; brother-in-law, Robert Crupper; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 10:00 am until the time of funeral service, 12:00 pm, at Linnemann Funeral Homes, 30 Commonwealth Ave., Erlanger, KY 41018. Burial with military honors will immediately follow at Highland Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, KY.
