Obituary For Joan Mary Volz
Joan Volz (nee Armstong), age 91, passed away on May 13th, 2026. She was born in Covington, KY on May 20th, 1934 to the late Anna and Walter Armstrong.
Before her retirement Joan worked as a medical records director for Booth Hospital which later became St. Luke Hospital which is now the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence, KY. Joan was a medical records director for 35 years and was a member of the American Medical Records Association.
She was a member of the St. Agnes choir for 30 years and was a volunteer at the St. Agnes adoration chapel for 20 years along with also serving on the bereavement council. Joan spent more than 6 years volunteering for Catholic Charities.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband Donald Volz who passed in 1977. She was also preceded in death by her son Douglas Volz; daughter Madonna Pfetzer; brother James Armstong; and grandchildren Leighann Pfetzer, Charlie Pfetzer and Andrea Pfetzer.
Joan is survived by her daughter Regina Volz and her granddaughters Lauren Hayes and Emily Pfetzer.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 21st from 10:30-11:30am at St. Agnes Church, 1680 Dixie Hwy, Ft. Wright, KY 41011. Mass of Christian burial will take place following the visitation at 11:30am at St. Agnes Church. Interment will take place following mass at St. John cemetery.
Memorial donations can be sent to Catholic Charities and/or the Salvation Army.
