Obituary For John M. Staub

Jack Staub died peacefully at his home November 19 th at the age of 98. He was born in

Cincinnati, Ohio, on 11/1/1926, the son of Elmer and Marie Staub.

Jack grew up in Bond Hill and graduated from Hughes High School in 1945. He was an

accomplished multi-sport athlete. After High School Jack enlisted in the Army Air Corps and

was immediately sent to Germany. Jack married the lovely Paula Mayhall on 5/8/1954 in St. Agnes Church of Bond Hill. They

celebrated 70 years together in 2024. He was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast. Jack was a

past commander of the American Legion post 427, past president of the Taylor Mill Boosters,

past president of the St. Anthony School Board, and longtime member of St. Anthony Church of

Taylor Mill.

Jack co-founded the Valley Casket Co. in 1982. His two sons still operate the business.

Jack is survived by his wife Paula, sons John Staub (Patti), Rick Staub (Lisa), his daughters Linda

Darin (Tony), Donna Grady (Will), and Angel Sandfoss. He was preceded in death by his

daughters Vicky Horwitz (Marty), and Martha Ringo (Dan), brothers Elmer Staub (Nell), Ralph

Staub (Jane), and sister Helen Kirker Briggs (Clark Kirker).

Jack is also survived by his grandchildren, Zachary Pille, Alexandra Horwitz Raphael, John Staub,

Whitney Staub Sondles, Bradley Niehaus, Danny Niehaus, Patricia Grady Burke, Brendan Grady,

Meredith Grady Medeyinlo, Jessie Ringo Gurjar, Elliott Ringo, Dillon Staub, Nick Staub, Stacey

Staub, Andrew Burk, Brittany Burk Black, Cody Sandfoss and Daniel Sandfoss and many great

grandchildren.
