Obituary For John Stevie
John lived a life filled with adventure, accomplishment, friendship, and, most importantly, family.
As a mechanical engineer and consultant, John traveled the world — Asia, Europe, South America — with work that took him into the pharmaceutical, food and beverage, and aerospace industries. But he had a gift for never letting work be just work. Whenever he could, he extended his business trips to explore new places, meet new people, and take in the world around him.
John was a gentleman in every sense of the word: intelligent and capable, but also genuinely curious about people, making friends easily wherever he went. He was a farmer who took great pride in raising cattle, and even after a lifetime of accomplishments, he never stopped learning — most recently taking up beekeeping. That was John: always curious, always game for something new.
He loved the outdoors, especially fly fishing, with some of his most treasured memories being trips he took with his sons to Georgia, Montana, Colorado, and Wyoming. He also loved the thrill of riding motorcycles and was a proud member of the BMW MOA community, riding cross-country with his friends and sons to attend annual rallies. All these being time spent bonding, laughing, and making memories that will last. He was a pickleball player, a longtime member of Campbell County Game and Fish, and deeply involved with the German clubs Schlaraffia and Kolping Society, as well as his German parish at Old St. Mary’s Church in OTR.
But for all his travel and accomplishment, family always came first. For 48 years, John shared his life with his beloved wife, Mary, and together they raised three sons. He adored his daughters-in-law, his granddaughter, his younger sisters, and his entire extended family — and the love he gave them is the greatest legacy he leaves behind.
John is survived by his devoted wife, Mary, his sons; Benjamin (Meher) Stevie, Joseph (Andrea) Stevie, William (Kaitlyn) Stevie; his granddaughter, Bella Stevie; sisters, Susan (Greg) Summe, Julie (Charlie) Nieman, Meg Bolan, and Barbara (Jeff) Centers; many nieces and nephews; and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Margaret Stevie.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, September 25, 2026 from 4:00pm – 7:00pm at Linnemann Funeral Homes in Erlanger, Kentucky. Mass will take place the following day, Saturday, September 26, 2026 at Holy Spirit Church in Newport, Kentucky at 10:00am. John will be laid to rest privately with his family following Mass.
To those who loved him most, he was simply John — someone whose place in their hearts can never be replaced.
