Obituary For John Thomas Mitchell
John Thomas Mitchell, 79, of Taylor Mill, KY died Sunday, December 14, 2025, at home with his wife. He was born November 3, 1946, in Sanford, NC, the son of the late Charles V. Mitchell and Louise Summerford Mitchell.
John was a Forester for over 15 years, eventually transitioning into a supervisory career in manufacturing and logistics. He loved turning wood, old cars, tennis, baseball, martial arts, and running 40 marathons. He was a third generation graduate of the University of Tennessee.
He is survived by his wife, Sonja (Ritchie) Mitchell; son, Jason T. Mitchell; one sister, Caroline Fuller; one grandchild, India Russell Mitchell; and two honorary grandchildren, Joe Richie and Erin Richie Gustafson.
There will be a Celebration of Life service Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 12-3 PM, at the Floral Hills Funeral Home, Chapel A. in Taylor Mill, KY.
