Obituary For Joseph Edward Meyer

Joseph Edward Meyer, 79, passed away on August 14, 2026. He was born on January 11, 1947, in Covington, Kentucky, to the late Sylvester and Martha (née Pahls) Meyer.

The love of Joe’s life was his wife, Bertha (née Blanco), with whom he shared 58 years of marriage. Their life together was built on a deep and lasting love, and Joe was completely and wholeheartedly devoted to Bertha throughout their years together.

Joe loved his family and took great pride in being a grandpa. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was a fun-loving presence in their lives. He treasured the time he spent with them and the memories they made together.

Joe also had a special place in his heart for his beloved Shih Tzu, Bobby Jo, who passed away last year. Bobby Jo was one of the brightest joys in Joe and Bertha’s life and was a much-loved part of their family.

Joe is survived by his children, Maria (Scott), Teresa Meyer Carroll, Gary (Katie), Elena (Alan), and Thomas (Jeannie); 13 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; his sister, Margaret “Margie” Gutierrez; his brother; and many extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Martha Meyer; and his dog, Bobby Jo.

Joe will be remembered for the love he had for his family, his devotion to Bertha, and the joy he found in being a grandfather. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will remain with those who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery.
