Obituary For Joseph L. Prather
Joseph “Joe” L. Prather, age 78, of Union, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026.
Born in Corinth, Kentucky, on December 5, 1947, Joe was the son of the late Riley and Irene Link Prather. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before embarking on a long career as a truck driver, a profession that perfectly suited his love of the open road.
Joe had a passion for trucks, airplanes, and anything related to the weather. His family and friends affectionately nicknamed him "Doppler Joe" because of his constant fascination with weather patterns, and "Runway Joe" in recognition of the time he spent performing field maintenance at CVG Airport. Whether he was tracking storms, talking aviation, tending to his garden, or enjoying a camping trip, Joe found joy in life's simple pleasures. Above all else, however, his greatest happiness came from the love he shared with his beloved wife, Paulette, also known as “Dee.” Their 40 years together were filled with devotion, companionship, and countless cherished memories.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his sisters, Linda Mullins and Nannette Sakson.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 40 years, Paulette “Dee” Prather; his children, Cyndie Martin (Steve), Julie Barlow (Stuart), Danielle Rice (Jerry), Amy Sue Prather, Angel Sarian (Bedros), and Donnie Paul Martin; his brother, Tony Prather (Katrina); ten grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, all of whom will treasure the memories and love he leaves behind.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2026, at Stith Funeral Home, 7500 U.S. 42, Florence, Kentucky 41042. Burial will immediately follow at Hopeful Lutheran Cemetery in Florence.
Memorial contributions may be made to any veterans organization of the donor's choice.
Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.stithfuneralhome.com.
