Obituary For Joseph Thomas Gebelt

Joseph Thomas Gebelt, 47, of Alexandria, Kentucky, peacefully drifted away on Monday, October 21, 2024, surrounded by family.

Joe was born on August 19, 1977, to Tom and Kathy Gebelt in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky. After Joe graduated from Campbell County High School in 1995, he went on to earn his degree in information technology from Northern Kentucky University.

Joe loved spending time and sharing his talents with friends and family, especially outdoors. He appreciated attending MDA camp as a child, enjoyed tinkering with computers, and grew to be a talented pool player, qualifying to play in Las Vegas. Joe was an avid UK fan and was always up for a good debate. He used his humor to spread love and encouragement.

Joe was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elmer and Gert (Seiter) Gebelt and Vic and Dorothy (Pauly) Bolte. He is survived by his parents, Tom and Kathy (Bolte) Gebelt and sisters, Laura Vroegindewey and Sarah (Quinn) Kobman. Survivors also include his nieces and nephews, Anna, Caleb, Caden, Calen, Emma, Eva, and Casen. He will be deeply missed by his immediate and extended family, as well as countless good friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Muscular Dystophy Association, Inc. (1016 W Jackson Blvd #1073 Chicago, Illinois 60607 or at https://mda.donordrive.com) or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105 or at https://www.stjude.org) in Joe’s name.

A short visitation followed by a mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024 at the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption in Covington, KY. The visitation will begin at 9:30am and will be directly followed by mass at 10:30am. The family would also like to invite all family and friends to gather in his memory on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Covington Latin School. It will be from 11am - 3pm with an opportunity to share and reminisce beginning at 12pm.
