Obituary For Joshua Thomas Rawe
Joshua Thomas Rawe, age 42, of Independence passed away unexpectedly on June 24th, 2026. Though his time on earth was cut painfully short, he will be remembered for the joy that he brought to those lucky enough to know him and the wonderful memories he left behind.
Josh was born in Covington, KY on November 18th, 1983 to Kimberly and Thomas Rawe. Josh was always a hard worker. He began working with his father at 13, worked full-time through college as a pizza delivery driver, and worked the past 18 years as a Financial Advisor for Fidelity.
Josh was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Blanche and Garry Rawe; maternal grandfathers Alexander Mackie and Monte Rovekamp; and his uncle Garry M. Rawe.
Josh is survived by his parents Kimberly (nee Mackie) and Thomas Rawe; siblings Melissa Thomas (Aaron Thomas) and Zachary Rawe (Theo Loftus); grandmother Carol Rovekamp (nee Deters); aunts and uncles Kathy and Alex Mackie, niece and nephew Maysen and Owen Thomas; godchildren Maysen Thomas and Mason Shipwash; and his beloved dogs Sammi and Riley.
Josh was quiet, kind, and extremely generous, re-beginning and funding a family tradition of summer vacations to Hilton Head. Over recent years, he became an avid gardener, taking particular care to ensure blooms from early Spring to late Fall. Almost to a fault, he met everything with rigor, research, care and precision, leading him to be beautifully thoughtful in everything he touched. He was a caring son, a funny brother, a loving grandson and a loyal friend. He was an exceptional uncle, loving his sister’s children as if they were his own. He will be wildly and deeply missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 29th from 4-6 pm at St. Anthony Church, 485 Grand Ave, Taylor Mill, KY 41015. Mass of Christian burial will take place at 6 pm following visitation. There will be a reception following Mass. Burial services will be held privately the following day at St. John Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be sent to St. Anthony Church.
