Obituary For Joyce S. Curley
Joyce S. Curley, 86, of Petersburg, Kentucky, peacefully passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026. She was born on March 4, 1940, in Covington, Kentucky.
Joyce lived a life centered on faith, family, and love. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend whose kindness and unwavering strength touched everyone who knew her. Her Christian faith was the foundation of her life, guiding her with grace, compassion, and hope through every season.
Joyce shared a beautiful life with her beloved husband, Thomas “Wayne” Curley. Together, they cherished traveling to Sanibel Island, where they created many treasured memories enjoying the beauty and peacefulness of the coast.
Nothing brought Joyce greater joy than her family. She loved gathering everyone together, creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unforgettable traditions. Christmas was especially dear to her heart. Each year she transformed her home into a winter wonderland, decorating every corner and making the holiday season magical for her children and grandchildren.
She was an exceptional cook, and her homemade vegetable soup and famous blackberry jam cake became family favorites that will forever remind her loved ones of her care and generosity.
She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. Joyce loved shopping, indulging in sweets—especially chocolate—birdwatching, with a special fondness for hummingbirds, and spending quiet hours reading. She also enjoyed collecting small rocks and other handheld treasures, believing they helped keep her mind active and always thinking.
Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas “Wayne” Curley; her Aunt Sue Ponzer; her grandparents, Charles and Mabel McClure and parents, Clifton Kremer and Faye McClure Powell.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her daughter, Sherry Curley Regenbogen (Chip); her son, Gary Wayne Curley; her grandchildren, Rebecca Jo Soward (Kevin), Joy Regenbogen, Christopher J. Regenbogen (Hannah), Kyle Curley, and Curtis (Lesli) Curley; her brother Don Powell and sister Sandi (Sonny) Cunningham ;her nephew, Vic Ponzer; along with many other loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
A graveside service celebrating Joyce’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.at Hebron Lutheran Church Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend as they gather to honor and remember a remarkable woman whose love will continue to guide and inspire generations to come.
