Obituary For Karen Elaine Boheler Anderson

Karen Elaine Boheler Anderson, age 72, of Covington, Kentucky, (formerly Independence, KY) passed away peacefully on Monday, July 6, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, Kentucky.

Karen devoted her life to caring for others as a Registered Nurse. Throughout her distinguished nursing career, she served patients at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville, Gentiva Home Health, St. Luke West, and concluded her career as an TCU/Cardiac Nurse at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood. In 2012, Karen suffered a massive stroke that forced her into an early retirement. Even so, her extensive medical knowledge, unwavering determination, and deep love for nursing helped her face the many challenges of her own health with remarkable strength and perseverance.

Before her health declined, Karen found great joy in decorating for the holidays, keeping her home, tending to her flowers, cooking for those she loved, and, above all, being "Gammy" to her cherished grandchildren. She was also a woman of strong Christian faith and a longtime member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Independence.

Karen is lovingly survived by her daughters, Lauren Anderson and Jennifer Vanderpool (AJ); and her beloved grandchildren, Noah Alexander Anderson, Ainsley Elaine Anderson, and Elizabeth Anna McDowell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George Raymond and Madge Hopper Boheler; her sisters, Brenda Minor and Sue Beebe; her brothers, Steven Alexander Hopper and George Raymond "Buck" Boheler, Jr.; and her grandson, Nathaniel William McDowell.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, Kentucky 41051. In honor of Karen's dedicated career in nursing, a special Nurse's Honor Guard ceremony will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., immediately followed by her funeral service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.

Karen’s family asks for people attending her services not be dressed in black.
