Karla Jean McLain, 72, of Union, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026.

Born in Covington, Kentucky, on July 3, 1953, Karla was the daughter of the late Edgar and Hallie McLain. She was a 1971 graduate of Conner High School.

Karla was an avid reader with a lifelong love of learning and ideas. She was a passionate champion for women’s rights and generously gave her time volunteering at the Women’s Crisis Center, a cause close to her heart. Above all else, Karla deeply loved her family and treasured the relationships she shared with them.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Zachary Kimberlin.

Karla is survived by her sisters, Peggy Moody and Karen (Dennis) Kloeker; her lifetime friend, Margo Grubbs; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss her dearly.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
